Weather clearing for a major flight as Bellanca camp reports squalls. Dispute between Levine and Bertaud over who leads, with Balchen possibly sent in. Byrd tests with Lindbergh as last to become contender for prize and may be first to take off.
The U S weather bureau warned that seas along the route to Paris may be unfavorable for the planned American flight in the next two to three days. Rain and low clouds were reported over New York this forenoon, signaling poor flying conditions.
Weather in the Atlantic was clearing but squalls around the Bellanca Columbia crew raised doubts about the Paris attempt. Byrd planned more tests on the America, Lindbergh eyed a possible start, and a dispute over crew and sale terms with Bertaud and Levine intensified. Balchen, Byrd aide, may refuse joining, while Hill offered 30000 for the Bellanca with two pilots ready in 24 hours.
A floating bottle recovered near Falmouth England carried a note suggesting Captain Charles Nungesser, the missing French airman, had landed seventy five miles off the Irish coast due to engine trouble. Coast guards sent word to the French Embassy in London as to the message's authenticity.

Comedienne Dot Mackaye testified at the trial of Paul Kelly, a movie juvenile, for the murder of her husband Ray Raymond. She said Kelly wrote her affectionate letters but that they were only friends after Raymond died following a fist fight with Kelly.
Reports from the Ore and Coal Exchange Cleveland dated May 6 show 3,908,189 tons of soft coal loaded at Great Lakes ports through April, compared with 1,068,872 tons a year earlier, marking a sizable year‑to‑date increase and signaling ready supplies for Northwestern markets this coming winter.
A mass meeting of Chauncey mine No. 25 workers in Chauncey Ohio approved a relief fund of 300 to aid needy miners. In Bath Michigan an explosion wrecked the west wing of a grade school and killed several adults including the postmaster and school principal with an estimated 20 to 30 lives lost. The blast followed two earlier incidents and prompted frantic rescue efforts as parents searched for their children.
Deputy Sheriff Clyde Gibson reported in Common Pleas court this morning that Ezra Barrows had been deceased for ten to fifteen years. A voice challenged the jury list prompting the judge to order the bailiff to strike Barrows from the list.
A collision between two autos near Chester Hill at 11 15 this morning wounds six seriously, one feared dead. Arch Taylor 70 likely internal injuries. Albert Taylor and son Raymond among the wounded. Graydon Woodyard and Glen Parson also badly injured.
Mrs. Margaret H. formerly of Portsmouth says she was only 18 when she married two years ago and seeks a divorce in Columbus.
Uncertain who fired the fatal shot in the Kerrick case as five persons stand trial in California. Attorneys acknowledged today they were involved in the investigation though no definite shooter has been identified. The incident occurred weeks after the death of movie cowboy Tom Kerrick in Los Angeles.
