Grand Jury Returns Ten True Bills in County Court
The May term 1907 grand jury for Athens County Ohio reported after four days of deliberation. They returned ten indictments including Edward Springer John Clark Charlie Willie Bennie Johnson John Dow and James Kinneer for crimes such as shooting to kill burglary and carrying concealed weapons. A supplemental report criticized mine safety at Sugar Creek No 211 noting improper ventilation and inspection prior to the March explosion that caused deaths and injuries. Foreman L H Price signed the report with fellow jurors.

Brothers Nayle Arrested After Lake Erie Flight
George and Joe Nayle were arrested after a Saturday night fight at a Dean avenue resort. They clashed with Ed Tinkham and fled as officers pursued them toward Factory Church and Lake Erie. George was captured Monday afternoon near Armitage. Joe eluded custody, last seen heading toward the lake.

Tinker Hurt In buggy accident near Anderson Station
Hon. BE. A. Tinker sustained a serious injury when a buggy upset in a ditch near Anderson Station. His right arm broke after being thrown from the vehicle. Elijah Cutright Jr. escaped with only a few bruises. Tinker was later brought to the city for medical care.

Stolen Bay Mare and Runabout Reported in Wellston
Sheriff Webster received a dispatch from Commissioner H. D. West of Wellston that his valuable driving mare and buggy were stolen last night. The bay double gaited mare bears a wire scratch on her left hind leg and the buggy is a common black steel tired runabout.

Thomas Francis of this city was severely injured Wednesday at mine 211 on Sugar Creek. He was crushed between a car and a rib of the mine, injuring his shoulder blade and upper body. He was moved home after the accident and his condition is not considered serious.
