Not Demanded Death Penalty In Loomis Case
In Mason County circuit court a jury found Samuel Lee Loomis guilty of assaulting his 13 year old sister in law Mary Ann Harmon. Prosecutor Bardin had stated no death penalty would be sought as such punishments had not been inflicted in similar cases. Sentencing was expected the next day. Loomis, 51, a farmer from Letart Route, had married the mother of his wife after her first husband died. The case involved Harmon's claims of abuse during a period when she was under 15 and had previously lived with her sister Nadine Harmon Lewis.
