Funeral of Mrs Carskaden in New Cemetery Service
The remains of Mrs. Andree Lowry Carskaden arrived from Cheney Washington after a long tuberculosis illness. Funeral services were held Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W H McKee conducted by Rev G Walton Ring, with many friends in attendance. She is laid to rest in the new cemetery. Fine Load of Horses Shipped From Athens to Pittsburgh Market
A large shipment from Caldwell & Hammond's livery barn in Athens included twenty two horses purchased by Grant Shuster of Freeport Pa. The draft animals and blocks dominated the load with a few roadsters and were bought in Athens Melga Vinton and Hocking counties for the Pittsburgh market.

Death of Jacob McVay at 71 in Hebbardsville
Jacob McVay died Sunday morning at his home near Hebbardsville after a lingering illness of consumption. He was a respected farmer owning a large farm. He left three wives and six children. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the C P church in Hebbardsville conducted by Rev J H Hirkpatrick with large attendance. Those attending from Athens included Mr and Mrs W W McVay and Mr Lindley McVay.

Dell Howell Arrested in Police Court for Disorderly Conduct
Dell Howell of west cod and boarding house keeper was arrested Monday afternoon by Policeman Woodruff on charges of disorderly conduct and beating his wife. Before Mayor rose an]] the evidence fully substantiated the charge. Howell fined ten dollars plus costs totaling thirteen dollars and sent to jail for failure to pay.

Injured Miner John Kinkade in Luhrig Mine Accident
John Kinkade aged 40 was hurt around noon Tuesday when a slate fall trapped him in Jame No. 2 at Luksig while he and his brother Charles were drawing pillars. He suffered body injuries though not believed serious. Charles was unhurt and Kinkade lives on J. T. Slope farm, one mile west of Athens.

Gas Well Struck At Stanley Farm West Of Albany
A large gas well was drilled Monday on the Stanley farm owned by William Weat, five miles west of Albany. Experts estimate a daily gas production of 1,500,000 cubic feet. The pocket was struck at about 1,000 feet, and the roar was heard over two miles, causing great excitement in the area.
