Superior Coal Co Leases Mine to Phoenix Coal Co

The Superior Coal Co has leased its mine near Clouster to The Phoenix Coal Co of Toledo on favorable terms. The lease covers about 690 acres and positions the lessee to operate the mine on a large scale, with G. G. Hadley of Toledo as president and manager and W. P. Read of Chicago as vice president of the new company.

Guy Welch Wins Half Yearly Prize Declamation Title

Friends report Guy Welch won the Half Yearly Prize Declamation Contest at Peekskill Military Academy New York among twelve contestants. He earned a 98 out of 100 and received a silver medal. He was chosen to deliver the senior class oration next June.

Young Nelsonville Residents Convicted in Burglary Case

George Williamson and Wallace Swindle were convicted by a Nelsonville court under an indictment for burglary after a short jury deliberation. Sam Onahue of Buchtel pleaded guilty to selling liquor to a minor. Judge de Steigner fined $25 plus costs and jailed him five days.

The horse is described as heavy bone short joints a strong back a good foot and fine action.
