North Vietnamese DMZ Attacks Intensify Amid Bombing Halt

North Vietnamese forces conducted their heaviest coordinated rocket and mortar strikes into the southern DMZ since the bombing halt began. U S forces replied with Marine artillery and the St Paul batteries. Casualties rose as fighting spread toward Da Nang and the A Shau Valley with U S losses and extensive enemy damage reported.

Strikes Rage On Campuses Across New England and Missouri

Demonstrations continue at Lincoln University in Jefferson City where protesters left the Student Union after a state restraining order. In Newton Massachusetts about 75 students occupied the administration building at Andover Theological Seminary demanding more black representation on the board and in enrollment. At UMass Amherst about 1500 students donated a dollar each to buy ads urging the legislature to restore educational cuts in the 1970 budget.

Licavoli Defends Rhodes Attack On Life Magazine Story

In a Columbus interview Licavoli denies Life Magazine’s claims that Gov. Rhodes manipulated funds and that he controls the numbers racket from prison. He calls the charges lies and asserts no fund exists for his release and requests clemency as he awaits parole. He also notes his heart attack and hospital stay with doctors records to back his health.
