A sign announces a new used car lot on Logan Road at the north entrance to Nels. The ad highlights fresh inventory and a convenient location near the road.
Mrs Ina Hall left Nelsonville for Columbus to join her two daughters Misses Marie and Audrey who have positions there. Frances Halli a Nelsonville Senior will remain until graduation before joining the family in Columbus.
Three Nelsonville high school students competed at Oberlin State Music Contest. Lewis Vaughn earned a superior rating in flute, while Louise Duskey and Donald Sanders received very good ratings in the miscellaneous brass division.
The C. and O. Railroad abandons about 15 miles of steel rail in the Nelsonville mining area. Supt William Morgan says several mine switches are included and will be removed. Salem Hollow, Coal Gate Branch, and Snake Hollow switches, totaling eight miles, are already removed, with six to seven more miles of rail slated for removal from Nelsonville yards.
At the Eudora Chapter O.E.S. No. 72 regular meeting at the Masonic Temple in Nelsonville, initiation will occur at 7:30 PM with lunch served after. Officers last week earned the Traveling Gavel in Chesterhill and Amesville will visit May 19 to exemplify the work. Evelyn Huffman daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Huffman of Nelsonville married Chester Frashier Saturday May 1 in Newport Kentucky. Magistrate Frank Moran officiated. Attending were Lawrence Huffman and Mr Mrs Huffman, Mrs George Frashier Athens and Don Pierce Cincinnati. Bride formerly cashier at Hotel Berry Athens for three years. Groom works at Cincinnati airplane factory and they reside at 3429 Erie Ave Cincinnati.
Nelsonville Charles Henry Stump age 69 died Sunday at his Mineral home. He is survived by his wife two sons and one daughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM at the Mineral Church with burial at Asbury.
Funeral services for Dilworth Young formerly of Nelsonville were held Monday at 2 PM at Central Ave Church in Athens with burial at Clarks Chapel. Workers' Council of the Church of Christ meets tonight at 6 PM in social rooms with a casserole supper led by the Young People's department. Happy Hollow PTA plans monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 30 PM at the school with officers for the new year to be elected. Scouts from Nelsonville attended a county Scout rally in Glouster Friday evening with Scout Master C Bongman.
