Botte Named 2015 Distinguished Professor at Ohio University
Gerardine Gerri Botte, Russ Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at OU, is named 2015 Distinguished Professor during the university’s Masters and Doctoral Commencement. The honor includes a lifetime designation, one semester of professional leave, and the right to award a full-tuition scholarship to one undergraduate student annually.

Heritage College opens clinical trials facility at OU
The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine launches the Clinical Translational Research Unit in Irwin Hall Athens to support all stages of clinical research. CTRU spans about 4000 square feet with patient rooms labs and imaging. Executive Dean Kenneth H. Johnson says the unit aims to elevate research and foster collaboration and funding. CTRU staff include a medical director two research nurses two project managers and an admin. Startup funding came from Ohio University and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations in 2014. Swett Hollow Road Closure for Slip Repair
Athens County engineers close County Road 94 known as Swett Hollow, half mile west of Hooper in Ames Two, Tuesday at 9 a.m. for about 30 days. The Plains Water and Sewer District will close Hocking Hills Drive in front of the Inn between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. for hole repair.

Four Mile Creek Culvert Work Forces Temporary Road Closure
Emergency road work will replace a culvert on County Road 59 Four Mile Creek between the Meigs County line and Troy Two and on Road 159 Hornsby Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weather permitting. Area should be avoided. Outdoor sirens will be tested Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in Nelsonville Plains and New Marshfield for one minute. residents should not call emergency centers with questions.

Move-out giveaways set for Wednesday in Athens and New Marshfield
Ohio University students donated over 3.5 tons of non-perishable food, with items distributed at two events: New Marshfield old school building from 1 to 6 p.m. and Athens County Fairgrounds from 5 to 7 p.m. Each family may receive one pre-made food box and one large item, plus unlimited small items.
