In Tuesdays primary Athens County voters approved a 3 mill, 10 year renewal for Children Services by 1 891 to 633 with about 2 536 ballots cast countywide. The election featured only one countywide issue and an Athens City Council at large Democratic primary with scant student precinct turnout.

Council votes to reclaim pay raise authority
The council, in a 5-0 vote, amended a 2014 fringe benefits ordinance for non union staff to require department heads to obtain council approval for any raises and retroactive compensation.
