Train Strikes Truck Kills Athens Man
Bura G. Shuler 43 of 297 East State Street died when the truck he drove was struck by westbound Continental Express of the B and O Railroad two miles east of Athens on a side road crossing at 3 35 pm. He was en route to a garden plot on Robert Cook’s farm along the Canaanville Road. The truck, loaded with farm implements, was dragged about 100 yards before the engineer George Wilson stopped the train. Coroner L F Jones investigated. Shuler born on Dutch Ridge, moved to Athens 16 years ago, survived by wife Minnie a daughter Fildon Byrne his mother Elizabeth and three brothers and two sisters. Funeral at St Paul’s Catholic Church Saturday 10 am with burial in West Union Street Cemetery. The Holy Name Society meets Shuler home 8 18 pm tonight.
