Differences Over Drafting Men Cited by Local Workers
One hundred men at Parkersburg Riga Reel staged a walk out over deferment practices under the Selective Service Act. Local Molders and Foundrymen claim the action is a principle stand amid dozens drafted and a number of apprentices discharged. They deny pay demands and note families with service members. A luncheon and church council meeting follow in Pomeroy on Friday May 4 with a women’s program planned.
