Memorial Day observances planned for Nelsonville cemeteries
Nelsonville Memorial Day plans were outlined by the committee at the Legion building led by Ed Carter. Services will be held at Fort Street and Green lawn cemeteries with a WRC grave service for the Unknown Soldier at Fort Street and a speaker sought for Green lawn. Ammunition for salutes is hard to obtain, and the group hopes the high school band will perform and a sailors firing squad may participate. Flags for the parade have been ordered and former service members are invited to join the procession from the Legion to Fort Street Cemetery.
