A six member United Auto Workers delegation met Governor James A. Rhodes in Columbus to press faster action on jobless benefits. The briefing followed a tense outside gathering at First Methodist Church where 75 to 85 supporters awaited the governor. Police coordinated the orderly event and referrals pointed workers to Willard Dudley for unemployment compensation guidance.

County Drops Dog Tag Drive and Buys Trucks for Roads
County commissioners hear about delinquent dog owners as about 100 people promised to buy dog tags but have not purchased them. They approve three dump trucks for the Engineer at about 5000 dollars each and 1000 tons of slag for 1750 dollars from Union Slag Corp. They file for possible acquisition of the soon to be vacated post office with General Services Administration and expect Ohio University to take possession while housing five county offices elsewhere.

Four-Mill Levy Filed For York on May Ballot
The York Local School Board filed a four-mill levy with the county election board for placement on the May ballot. The three year levy would fund current operating expenses. The district current millage is 19.50 mills in York and Trimble Townships. The measure was approved by four board members Terry Bunting John Mullins Bill Forbes and John Sanborn.
