Commissioners Question Board of Elections Reconsideration of Budget
Athens County Commissioners press the Board of Elections to revisit its 1973 budget request of 61 500 arguing actual 1972 spending neared 90 000 and that last year s surge in voter registration created ongoing needs While denying a move to larger offices they challenge the proposed 103 000 budget and question the 42 202 98 cost tied to 6 000 new registrants The letter cites federal court orders the 26th Amendment and a one time registration spike as factors to reconsider and insists most space can be found in the courthouse
