Meigs Classes Resume After Strike Settled

Meigs Local School District reopened classes after a two day teachers and non teaching staff strike. The board recognized the Meigs Local Teachers Association and Meigs Local Chapter 17 of the Ohio Association of Public School Employes as bargaining agents. Makeup days set for two Saturdays, April 7 and April 14, 1973, to recover lost instruction.

End of U.S. Combat Troops Leaves Vietnam War Era

At Travis Air Force Base California the last 1120 American troops shipped home from Vietnam aboard six jet transports. About 1034 Americans remained in Vietnam including 825 Joint Military Commission delegates 159 Marine guards and 50 embassy attaches. Peak U.S. forces totaled 543000 in April 1969 with 45943 dead and 300640 wounded.

Defective Pacemakers Charged in FDA Probe

The FDA will investigate consumer group charges that defective pacemakers may have been implanted in U.S. patients. Ralph Nader's Health Research Group urged a recall of up to 30,000 Medtronic pacemakers manufactured before April 1972.
