Athens Junior High Easter Program Shown in School Hall
Students at Athens Junior High presented their annual Easter program in the high school auditorium on Thursday afternoon. Carolyn McKnight and Edward Johnson opened with a scripture reading. Several poems and readings followed including God Is and The Voice of The Cross. The seventh grade ensemble sang Easter Dawn and Bells of The Morning with Janice Barnhill and Dick Berry contributing readings. Harold Kessler directed the choir with Jan McMillin as accompanist and several teachers assisted with the program.

Second grade at Morrison Elementary School created Alaska themed work with photographs of brown bears fires and salmon traps. Mrs Beatrice Hill led the unit and Mrs Harry Benz spoke about the 50th state focusing on wildlife scenery industry and people.

East Elementary Hosts Easter Assembly And Guest Speaker
East Elementary sixth graders led an Easter assembly broadcast to the school, with songs and readings under teachers Mary Dillon and Caro lyn Hauer. Von Schmltz spoke to Cub Scout Pack 56 at First Methodist Church about automatic signals lanterns and train whistles with a film Our Trains of Today. Thousands of Athens Students Begin Easter Vacations
Thousands of Athens County schoolchildren start Easter break following Ohio University’s mass exodus. OU students left campus after classes, many heading to Florida. Athens city schools begin vacation on Good Friday and return April 10 with several Easter assemblies noted across schools.
