Short Circuit Cuts Cleveland Electricity

A transformer short circuit caused a switchboard fire at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Plant plunging downtown and East Cleveland areas into darkness. Most street lights stayed on from the municipal plant while radio stations and elevators faced outages. A baby was delivered by candlelight at a hospital and a man trapped in an elevator was rescued.

Schoenbrunn Village Plans Easter Sunrise Service

An Easter sunrise service will be held at Schoenbrunn Village two miles southeast of New Philadelphia, reviving a 175 year old tradition. The site, founded in May 1772 by David Zeisberger and a group of Indians, hosted Ohio’s first church and town landmarks.

Shooting After Fight Brings Murder Charge

First degree murder charges were filed against William McGuire, 39, Buckhorn, in the fatal shooting of Ray Willis, 28, at Buckhorn. Sheriff Buckner said the shooting followed a Sunday night fight after Willis accused McGuire of tripping him and inviting a fight.
