City pumping station to pay for itself in year one
City officials estimate the $56,000 pumping station will save more in power costs than its debt service during the first operation period. W Gross, director, says monthly costs run about 505 dollars with 15 dollars for two leap days, and annual bond payments of 3 000 dollars begin in 1950. The station of 40 000 population will reduce power bills, adding 300 dollars monthly in the first year, while seven pumps replace older units to handle about 800 000 gallons daily in emergencies.
