Lessons in Bridge Playing by Jacoby and a General Store Memory
A Troy Township elder recalls a century-old trip to a country general store near Coolville and Frost. She describes barter days for meat, groceries, and dry goods, the store's crowded shelves, open water from a bucket, and a family's trade for cheese, sugar, tea, and beef. The reminiscence blends vivid store imagery with a later bridge example showing declarer play.
