Gilbert Friend 35 of Plant City Florida shot and killed his three children Robert 6 Helen 6 and Kenneth 6 months then shot himself at his wife's grave in Upper Darby Pennsylvania. He had visited the cemetery with his family since Mrs Friend died months earlier.

8 C Staneart aged 64 a noted Athens and Meigs Counties business man and farmer died in Sheltering Arms Hospital after an operation. Funeral at the Christian Church Monday at 2 with Rev Reen J Downs officiating. He was born April 25 1869 in Bedford Township Meigs County and lived in Burlington earlier. He moved to Athens in 1917 and ran several businesses including Day Staneart Sales and the Athens Automotive Service. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and Royal Neighbors of America. He married Zelia Blackwood in 1883. she died in 1925. He leaves a son Glen and several nephews and nieces.
Sandusky Ohio March 18 The beer bill amendment allowing wine up to 3.05 alcohol content drew sharp criticism from regional winery experts active in pre prohibition beverage production. They say 10 percent would be the lowest feasible content and express dissatisfaction with the Senate action.
Paris March 18 A motion to pay the 20 million dollar war debt due the United States after France defaulted last December 15 was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies. Prospects for passage were described as excellent. The motion by Rene Richards Radical Socialist urged the government to place the adjourned payment at the disposal of the United States Government.
In Cleveland area the bodies of Alexander Grant and his four children were recovered from a car submerged in the Cuyahoga River south of Cleveland. Police investigate if the drownings were accidental as neighbors recall the car seen near a bridge around midnight and Grant expressed despair over hard times.
An official Japanese report from HSIFENGKOW says 3,000 Chinese were killed and 6,000 wounded in the Jehol Province campaign. Three units under General Heijiro Hattori fought 45 battles in blizzards. Japanese losses were 156 dead and 120 wounded or frostbitten. A scouting squad led by Under Lieutenant Kato was annihilated near Panchiakow.
