Washington March 17 Farm relief proposals signal new push to restore pre war commodity prices. Plans call for government bounties to offset production costs and a pool system to reduce surpluses. Leaders seek to revive farm income by tying price supports to acreage reductions and processing taxes.
Llewellyn A. Banks, 60, publisher of the Medford Daily News, is held on a first degree murder charge for the shooting death of Constable George Prescott when Prescott attempted to serve a warrant at Banks residence. Banks claimed Prescott was a tool of his political enemies as Good Government Congress leaders rallied supporters opposed to officials. Vigilantes from the American Legion guarded county officers amid factional tensions in Jackson County Oregon.

The Ward Bill, aimed at raising bond-issue thresholds, will return to the Ohio House when it reconvenes Monday night. The Senate amended it to require 55 percent for bond issues for municipal utilities, while previously the House version set 65 percent for most bond issues and levies, except school operating expenses which stay at a simple majority. The House must now concur with the Senate amendment.
