Governor Cox travels to New York to greet the first returnees of the 37th division. The Harrisburg docked at Hoboken shortly after 11:30 this morning with the troops on deck ready to march to trains and ferries for dispersion to their camps.
The Harrisburg passed Sandy Hook at 10 a.m. with detachments of the 147th infantry and other units of the 37th division from Brest. Nine officers and 566 enlisted men of the 147th infantry led the voyage as troops cheered from the rails. The ship paused at quarantine for medical boarding amid rough seas and listened to church bells and band music as it neared New York harbor.
Among the casuals were five Cincinnati men Lieut Al Roth Clifton Knoedel Henry Johns Neil Fornell and Packey Flynn. They said most Ohio men of the 147th Infantry will arrive on the transport Von Steuben. The date of arrival has not been learned.
In Columbus on March 19 the largest lobby in years crowds the legislature to influence the emergency Crabbery enforcement bill. Dry and wet lobbyists press legislators while the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Suffrage League seeks to kill the emergency clause for a referendum. Both sides claim enough votes exist but certainty awaits the roll call this afternoon at 1 30.
Six alleged bootleggers were released as Sikeston could not prove a local option ordinance. The city clerk was absent and the mayor acted as judge, leaving the case unresolved.
Ohio War Savings Committee reports the War Savings Airplane will land in Athens around noon Thursday en route from Wellston to Marietta. Pilot Lieut. Tyler will drop war savings souvenirs before a second landing in Athens.
Columbus March 19 The legislature bribery investigation committee led by Senator Whittemore prepares for its first open meeting tomorrow. An open invitation is issued to informants while subpoenas may follow. The panel seeks Price’s counsel or an outside attorney and may have an expert stenographer.

Word from Columbus reached Superintendent Morgan that the entire art exhibit will be transported by auto truck this weekend to ensure readiness for a Monday noon opening at the Masonic Temple. Schools will visit during hours, with programs by Eastside and Central grade pupils. A candy and fancy work sale under Miss Clara Weiher will fund the project, with strong local lodge and club support already pledged.
The 26th division New England National Guard and the 42nd Rainbow division are slated to sail from Brest to Boston and New York between March 28 and April 19, per the war department. The transport Seattle arrived with 1,677 men and cruiser Charleston with 1,271.
Dr. K. Walker Wilkins wanted for the murder of his wife telegraphed from Baltimore that he would soon arrive in Mineola to testify before the grand jury. He said he did not know of the murder charge until reading it in the papers and would tell all he knew.

Lord Cecil, the British League expert, tells correspondents that Britain favors adding the covenant to the preliminary peace treaty with Germany. He argues it would not delay the treaty and strengthens the Monroe Doctrine by requiring American consent for League actions. He doubts inserting a special clause and cautions against a racial equality provision, noting it would infringe on domestic government rights.
Oil and gas interests fight to kill the Miller bill in the senate to require state utilities commission approval before a gas company can withdraw service from any municipality.
