Athens Sustainability Action Plan to go before council
Athens City Planner Paul Logue presented highlights of a 30 page Athens Sustainability Action Plan developed by the Environment and Sustainability Commission after two public forums. The plan aims to cut water and energy use, retrofit homes, reduce waste, boost multi modal transport, expand affordable housing, divert construction debris, and support local businesses while noting resident concerns over carbon tax and plastic bag bans which are not Commission recommendations. The plan will have its first reading Monday and a copy is on the city website.
