John A McCathran Dies at Home on the Plains
John A McCathran died at his Wolf's Plaids home Friday evening after a two week battle with illness. He was nearly 62, born in Green County Pennsylvania, moved to the Plains about 20 years ago. A licensed Free Methodist exhorter, he later joined Plains E church and served as a church worker. Funeral Sunday at Zion church on the Plains at 2 pm, interment there. Survived by siblings James McCathran Union Will Cathran McArthur Frank McCathran Mrs Lehew Columbne and Mrs Armstrong Union and Mrs John Philipps Chillicothe.

Mrs Hannah Higgins Dead At Daughter's Home In Smithfield
Mrs Hannah W Higgins widow of Joseph S Higgins died Tuesday afternoon at her daughter Mrs William H Wood's home in Smithfield Jefferson county after weeks of dropsy illness. She was 75, mother of ten with nine living, member of the Swedenborgian New Church, and led a Christian life. Her remains were brought to her son Dr J B Higgins's home yesterday for the funeral at the new cemetery today.

Marietta Defeats Ohio University in Close Exhibition
Marietta City basketball team defeated Ohio University's squad Friday night by 43 to 108 in a camerat at Marietta. The Athens score came only in the first half as Marietta dominated with a scientific display. About 200 spectators praised the exhibition. The Athens players stayed over Saturday for a rematch, Marietta winning 16 to 13. A future game is being planned between the Ohio University women and Marietta College ladies team.

Remains of Mrs Rapan Returned After Death in Canaan Township
