Man Called Frenchy Arrested in Uniontown Murder Case

Henry Grant known as Frenchy was arrested Thursday night in Chauncey by Policeman Burdette and Mayor Rose on suspicion of killing William Jenkins of Uniontown Pa. Uniontown officers confirmed the description but questioned the height and weight difference. Grant’s voice and appearance matched the Uniontown alert. A $100 reward was offered by Fayette County commissioners for information leading to his arrest.

Postoffice Receipts Highlight Rural Route Growth in Athens

James P Dunbar Died After Short Illness At 30

James P Dunbar aged 30, son of J L Dunbar, died Friday after a brief illness of consumption. He worked eighteen years for the Ohio River Railroad and was active in Masonic and Knight Templar orders. Funeral services were held Sunday at Amesville Lodge with a telegram of condolence from Wheeling and a wreath sent by friends unable to attend due to high water.

Plate Glass Window Broken at Cotton Bros Store

John Porter, son of ex sheriff and Mrs B Porter, accidentally broke a large plate glass window at Cotton Bros store on Friday by swinging on a rope in front of it. The glass shattered from top to bottom but the boy was not injured. The window cost about forty dollars.

Ohio Senate approves Seese bill to create two normal schools

The Seese bill to establish normal school departments at Ohio University Athens and Miami University Oxford passed the Senate 26 to 4 and becomes law. Arrested for desertion in Nelsonville

Arthur Kill bury known locally as Arthur Robinson was arrested as a deserter from the WA 8 army. He deserted from Fort Sheridan on August 3 1961 and later worked as a teamster by Isaiah Touran in Nelsonville before being captured at the Sewer Pipe works and taken to the Columbus barracks.
