Appeal hearing on suppression of evidence in Athens case
The Fourth District Court of Appeals heard an appeal by Jessica L. Davis challenging a search in a drug and fraud case. Davis contends the vehicle search was illegal because the stop began with her being told she was free to go. Davis pled no contest in 2015 to multiple drug and fraud charges and was sentenced to nearly five years. Her appeal followed the stop and consent to search, with the prosecutor not presenting oral arguments when the case was heard Thursday. Davis had been released on judicial release and was to be transported to a correction facility per records.
