Athens county commissioners tentatively paused new road promises until a full county survey and season plan are completed. Delegations seek repairs while funds shrink after the state fails to appropriate Green Law money, reducing rural road funds by 28 000 dollars.
Columbus Klan members were ordered to abandon the mask today by Edward Neal, Exalted Cyclops, with other state cyclops likely issuing similar decrees. The unmasking, under the third degree added to the national constitution as the Knights of the Great Forest, signals broad Klan participation in the upcoming presidential campaign.
Will Rogers jokes that Congressmen Borah Reed and Walsh could be named judges to sit on the Supreme bench if they accepted a judgeship with higher pay. He notes Green, a Ways and Means chair, favors strong inheritance taxes for the rich and mocks administration choices.

Tools were taken from the school tool room. Chief Herb Parker suspects a professional due to the method. Old clothes and battery wiring were used to muffle the blast.
Senate hearing on coal field conditions opened with John L. Lewis reporting that President Coolidge declined federal action after major operators repudiated contracts in 1925. Lewis cited the president’s reply and noted no wage-suits were filed to enforce the Jacksonville agreement.
Bremen village council passes an ordinance to issue bonds totaling 6584 dollars. The action appears to avert jail sentences ordered by the State Supreme Court for failing to settle a damage claim filed by Mrs. Sarah Turner. Sentences were suspended 60 days to allow compliance.
Velma West aged 21 pleads guilty to the murder of her husband T Edward West and is sent to the Marysville reformatory for life. She was accompanied by deputy sheriffs as she departed by automobile for the state institution.
Franklin county commissioners posted a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the four bandits who robbed the Columbus Savings Bank of $37,000 yesterday. The bold daytime hold up sent shock through Columbus. Authorities describe the suspects as armed men who escaped in a waiting car. Police urge witnesses to come forward with any clues.

Berlin reports Dr. Gottfried Benn, a German medical officer, provides the first close eye witness description of Edith Cavell's 1915 execution by firing squad. Benn recalls the scene at Bruggelt, Cavell's calm defiance, and the moment of death, denying a finishing shot. He also notes Cavell's claim of helping the Allies smuggle 300 soldiers and civilians across the Dutch frontier.
The Senate foreign relations committee voted unanimously to continue the marine occupation of Nicaragua. The panel instructed Chairman Borah to report against Hefler's withdrawal resolution, with Borah stating the U S has sent marines to guarantee a fair election and members from both parties support remaining until the election is held.

Major Sam M. Johnson probate judge of Athens county was elected exalted ruler of the Athens lodge. He will be installed with a cadre of assistants Tuesday night by John Cross. Other officers include Phil Robinson Glen Romine Clyde Featherstone Alex M. Moore David Johnson Isaac Slaughter Frank O. Sheldon. Retiring ruler Francis A Lavelle to represent the lodge at the grand lodge meeting in Miami Florida. Hugh Jefferson named alternate Chaplain Cross and Esquire Jefferson are past exalted rulers. Joe D. Martin and L. C. Baker serve on the board of trustees.
The Athens Radio club postponed its Thursday evening meeting to a date next week to be announced. President W. R. Hughes and Secretary Alex Moore issued the statement citing a change due to the basketball game event.
Robert Condit, an Ohio inventor, announced plans to launch from Miami Beach with a massive explosive powered rocket to reach Venus. He predicted a cordial reception and a possibly advanced native race, aiming to land gracefully and return with natives.
