Communist Leader Surrenders After Five Years as Fugitive

Henry Winston, longtime Communist Party organizer, turned himself in to federal officials in front of the Federal Building after five years on the run. A crowd greeted him as he entered, shouting greetings and support. Winston and Gilbert Green were among 11 leaders convicted in 1949 for conspiracy against the United States.

Westinghouse Accepts Government Peace Plan
