USCC Claims Unemployment Tax Profits Drawn From States
The United States Chamber of Commerce says the federal unemployment tax act generated about a billion dollars in profit for the federal government at the expense of states. It cites a 1938 to 1951 breakdown and urges legislation to return federal taxes to states for unemployment program administration. The group notes 10 percent was intended for administration, with the rest supposedly returned, but claims the federal Treasury has kept the funds. Paris history note appears beside the main item.
