A large section of ice show bleachers collapsed at Baltimore's Fifth Regiment Armory injuring more than 275 people. Police and fire units aided victims as hospitals treated the bruised and shocked. 32 were listed in serious condition. The temporary stands had been refused a permit.
Communist truce negotiators in Munsan proposed writing a ban into the Korean armistice to prevent naval blockades of the Chinese coast or invasions from Formosa. Col. Don O Darrow said the move aims to extend the armistice beyond Korea, potentially affecting UN efforts to enforce the truce.
U S Marines beat off five pre dawn attacks along the 155 mile front in Korea. Probing assaults by the Reds began around 2 am and ended by 6 45 am with the attackers retreating to bunkers. Air operations were limited by stormy weather after Thursday raids on supply facilities.

Herbert Franklin Miller 22 phoned Roanoke police to surrender for the March 1 holdup killing of James Smith 70, a Columbus druggist. He said his conscience bothered him after reading the death report and had traveled to Roanoke to stay with relatives. Smith was Ruth Wooley’s uncle, Athens.

Mrs. Mattie A. Williams, a longtime Leon Community resident, died Thursday at 5 p.m. at Rust Rest Home in Pt. Pleasant after several months of illness. She reportedly said she was 103, though age could not be verified. Survived by sons Frank of Columbus and James of Cabin Creek, plus three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements with Mohr-Arnett. She had lived much of her life in Leon.
State veterinarian Dr. Harry Geyer denied reports that hog anthrax in Ohio stemmed from contaminated feed. He said no proof exists, while noting at least 35 hog deaths on 21 farms, with cases centering in Clinton County and possibly spreading to Fayette Athena Knox Licking Allen Pike counties.
Ohio's director of selective service reminded college students that applications for the April 24 college qualification test must be postmarked by midnight March 10. Col. C. W. Goble said about 100 000 will take the test at more than 900 testing centers in the United States and its territories. About 359 000 students took five tests last year.

Two masked men robbed the Quonset Point Naval Air Station Credit Union stealing about 100000 dollars. They fled in a green sedan at 50 mph past the gate as Marines stood on duty. Credit union manager Gerald Lynch and guard Thomas Smith were nearby during the hold up.
In a British Medical Journal note by Dr J M H Smellie of Liverpool the case describes a father who lost his right arm in a car crash while traveling with his ailing daughter. Shortly after the wreck the girl's arthritis and skin disease vanished. The names are withheld.
Steubenville reports a 105 year old retiree and former grave digger died in a rooming house fire on Thursday. Stephen Talkich, an immigrant from Austria-Hungary who arrived in 1886, was among those affected by the blaze.
Washington Cyrus Eaton Cleveland financier testified that he contributed 30000 to the 1950 Democratic effort against Senator Robert A Taft. He said the money went through Otis and Co employees who held stock in the firm and that he and his family owned about half the stock. The Senate subcommittee is examining Ohio's 1950 election in which Taft defeated Joseph T Ferguson.
