Death Probe After Woman Found Near Hickory Chapel

Mason County authorities investigate the death of Mame Elizabeth Robinson about 49 whose body was found near Hickory Chapel Route 2 secondary Route 14. She had been missing from On Hollow Route 2 since Sunday. Road conditions trapped coroner police and sheriff vehicles at the scene. a wrecker was required to free them. The body was moved to Stevens funeral home.

Airliner crashes near Lake Tahoe in major search

Wreckage of a Paradise Airlines Constellation with 85 aboard was found on a mountainside near Lake Tahoe. Military and civil air patrols worked with ground crews to locate survivors as rescue teams searched the snowbound area.

Survivors Arrive in Halifax After Amphialos Sinking Rescue

Thirty four Greek crew members arrived in Halifax aboard a Canadian destroyer after a dramatic rescue from the North Atlantic gale that split the Amphialos in two. Two crewmen perished. five survivors were hospitalized on stretchers. Captain Stamantis Polemis confirmed the ship carried 36 and now 34 remain. A Canadian air force plane spotted the rescue.

Two Estes Associates Go To Jail

Two former associates of promoter Billie Sol Estes began serving their prison terms Sunday night as part of a years long dispute to stay free. Coleman McSpadden of Lubbock and Ruel W. Alexander of Amarillo received 10 and six year sentences respectively after pleading guilty to mail fraud tied to mortgages backed by non existent farm fertilizer tanks. King Paul of Greece Gripped by Health Crisis at Palace

King Paul, 62, recuperating from a stomach ulcer operation, was rushed to Tatai Palace amid a blood clot in his left lung and new clotting in his right leg.
