Insurance Ads Questioned At Ohio Hearing
Akron Better Business Bureau president accused some health insurers of hucksterism as the state department weighs changes to NAIC ad rules. The proposed rule targets ads pushing income replacement and medical coverage, requiring clear daily benefits, bold preexisting condition notes, single annual enrollment, and no first premium discount. Insurers warned changes could hurt sales and raise costs despite consumer safeguards.
