Meigs County Man Drowns In Farm Pond

Carl Francis Van Meter a 48 year old Racine Route 1 resident drowned Sunday in a farm pond on Bashan Road near the Van Meter home. Deputy Beegle said the drowning occurred about 6 55 p m Tracy Tackett of Ewington heard Van Meter calling for help as he fished at the far end of the pond. The death follows other drownings in Meigs County over the weekend bringing the toll to 14 state wide.
