Four Missing After Fire On Roger Blough
In Lorain Ohio fire crews planned to enter the 858 foot ore carrier Roger Blough to search for four men missing and believed dead after a 1414 hour blaze that burned the vessel into Thursday night. Fire officials said interior temperatures near 2500 degrees delayed entry until cooling allowed access for rescue efforts. The fire reportedly started when a welder struck an arc near a damaged fuel line gasket in the stern during repairs. The Blough was near completion at Lorain yards of American Ship Building Co the largest Great Lakes ship built entirely in recent times.
