Westerly Yacht Club votes to admit women falls short
In Westerly Rhode Island the century old Westerly Yacht Club voted on changing its policy to allow women as full members. In a secret ballot 207 men voted for change while 171 voted to keep. Associate wives can not vote though they may join and organize events. The issue drew from Hillary Clinton’s historic campaign and sparked local debate about gender discrimination and private club legalities.
