One Driver Triggers Four Vehicle Crash In Hocking
A northbound driver attempting to pass a truck on Route 93 near Betheny Church caused a four vehicle crash that injured four people. Michael Dunn, 24, Oak Hill, failed to reenter the lane and hit Kenneth E. Hanning, 25, New Lexington, head on, with Jack Proctor, 46, Gore, rear ending Hanning after dodging the initial impact.

East Bypass Traffic Plan to be Discussed Friday Meeting
A traffic flow plan for the Route 33 East Bypass will be discussed Friday by Athens Mayor Raymond Shepard Service Safety Director Dwight Robinson and Division 10 of the State Highway Department. The mayor says the bypass may ease Columbus Parkersburg traffic but other town traffic will still pass through. Deputies reported a truck crash injuring three people. all were treated and released at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.

Blast Kills One and 16 Missing in Underground Tunnel
An explosion 178 feet underground in a water tunnel project near Sylmar north of Los Angeles killed one worker and left 16 missing. Fire crews found one body about 800 feet from the site as methane or spark may have ignited a fire in the debris-filled tunnel.

Man Hurt In Mishap At State Routes 124 and 144
