Chicago dispatch reports two former allies Frank and Al square off as Roosevelt supporters push to abolish the two-thirds rule. A simple majority would allow Roosevelt to secure the presidential nomination, altering the Democratic convention dynamics and shaking party unity.
In Lausanne France and Germany held a formal meeting with Premier Herriot and Chancellor Von Papen, attended by over twenty ministers and experts. Count Schwerin Von Krosigk signaled Germany cannot meet future reparations despite a moratorium, while French officials remained less pessimistic.
In Mifflin Township the grand jury will investigate claims of attempts to poison members of the George B. Milligan family. Sheriff H. F. Waller said traces of poison were found in a spring used by the Milligans.

Fifteen Ohio counties must contribute $1,098,425.98 of tax money to 73 counties to cover tax shortages unless a suit by Hamilton County Prosecutor Robert Gorman blocks the provision. State Auditor Tracy notes total losses from removing motor vehicles and other personal property rise to $28,913,325.79 with intangible assets added to the classified list, while a temporary adjustment uses pro rating of intangible revenue, amounting to $8,727,747.12 in May.

Eleven of thirteen state delegations favor Baker, with a 220 vote lead. Maryland backs Alfred E. Smith as its second choice if its favorite son can’t win. Grover Fleming publisher of the Ohio Examiner and central figure in recent court cases was expected to post a $5,000 bond today on criminal libel charges in Middletown. Fleming was arrested yesterday in Hamilton and spent the night in jail there.
Canton city officials were informed by East Ohio Gas Company that it would concede a rate reduction in Canton mirroring Akron’s terms. The concession is framed on a four year franchise agreement.
Chicago University President Robert M. Hutchins urged repeal of prohibition to aid youth and endorsed the Campaign Contributors Association plan. Homer Lowery dies at his New Marshfield home this morning. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the residence of C. C. Lowery, with burial in West Union Street Cemetery.
