City officials and ITV personnel doubt the proposed rebuilding of the sliding portion of West Washington street will succeed due to high costs. City Engineer John Dowler estimates 25 dollars per foot to build a retaining wall and suggests laying an iron drain pipe to carry off water blamed for the slides. Drain efforts over years have failed as earth slides continue, leaving the street from Lancaster to Pratt rough and hard to navigate. The final decision on rebuilding remains doubtful.

Change water daily, trim stems, clean bowls, and avoid drafts. Deep vases outperform shallow bowls for longevity. For milky sap flowers like poppy dipping stems in hot water helps seal sap.
