Mr and Mrs Meade Whyte traveled to Columbus to admit their daughter Margie to Children’s Hospital for observation and treatment. Mr Whyte, assistant fire chief, will return tonight while Mrs Whyte remains with Margie in Columbus.
Members of Troop 66, Boy Scouts, serve on the color guard in the Public Square. Leaders announce an overnight scout camp for the troop this Saturday.
The Hocking Valley Pythian Auto League plans a meeting in Nelsonville with Valley Lodge No. 169 hosting. The program follows regular lodge business and visiting lodges should notify Secretary Roy Tomlinson of expected attendance.
Col. R. M. Edgar, chief construction engineer in the Columbus area VA office and Nelsonville native, has been elected and installed president of the Franklin County Chapter of Professional Engineers.
Lois McGrew Wood of 25 Elliott St Athens was recommended by D W Codding for director of girls physical education at the local high school. The Athens city board of education approved the appointment unanimously with a $2100 salary and forward a contract for signature. Wood, 23, Lancaster High School and Ohio University alumna, taught Chillicothe High School last year and will reside in Athens with her husband student at the university. She is active in church recreation groups and was Varsity O at OU.
Philadorian Lodge 1577 F and AM members will attend services at First Methodist Church in Nelsonville on Sunday for St. John’s Day. The Rev. Paul M. Niswander will deliver the sermon and Masons will assemble at the temple at 10 15 a m before marching to the church.
