Senate inquiry probes Ella M. George president of Pennsylvania W C T U about a 250 dollar prohibition enforcement fund. George says the state organization with 50 000 members raises about 50 000 yearly and spent 31 330 in 1925. She notes speakers campaigned against opposed candidates and Pinchot covered some costs.
A new booklet from the Washington Information Bureau highlights Zion National Park in southwest Utah. The piece notes the canyon land reached by road and rail, and praises the region as a national park worth seeing even for those who may not travel there.

Chauncey June 22 Lewis W. Sanders 78 a pioneer Millfield resident died at home after a stroke suffered days earlier. He was a lifelong farmer, married Jennie King in 1867, and leaves his wife a niece Bertha Smith two brothers and many nieces and nephews. Funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday at his residence with Nye cemetery burial in the county.
Columbus hosts the United Master Barbers' Association of Ohio which organized its creation and voted to hold the next convention in the city.
A severe wind and heavy rain struck Athens and nearby areas last night. Large tree limbs were torn free and garden plants beaten down while awnings collapsed and the river stayed low. Rain totaled .46 inches with most of it in a twenty minute hard shower.
Cloudless skies followed by rapid warming as storms moved across the state last night. Strong winds and electrical activity caused a death and widespread property damage, disrupting communities and prompting emergency responses.

Electric railway divisions halted and Norwalk pole line blown down as heat and storms return tomorrow.
The Ku Klux Klan was refused a permit to parade in Cleveland on July 31 by Safety Director Ed Barry who cited public safety concerns. The group had earlier been denied permission for a demonstration in Niles.
Final action toward selecting a site for a new state Institution for feeble minded in Northern Ohio will be taken when the state board of control meets here Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Bennie Ferrel of Chauncey Troop One heroically saved a non swimmer who had sunk in nine feet of water at Sunday Creek. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon with several boys nearby as the rescuer pulled the boy to safety and life was likely saved.
John Bryant seeks reversal of nine alleged errors from his murder conviction for the 1926 Meigs County killing of James McCumber. The case, over which judges Sayre Middledton and Mauck will preside, follows two accomplices Hedrick and Rhoades, who faced their own trials in Columbus. Bryant faces execution in the electric chair, while Hedrick pleaded guilty and Rhoades testified.
Dan Kovatch 41 of Haydenville, Natco plant employee, suffered severe injuries when the Hocking Valley passenger train struck his Ford touring car at the Patton crossing in Logan. He had right leg amputated below the knee, both arms fractured, and a skull base fracture.

In Mayfield Kentucky three women died in a boardinghouse fire after delaying entry to save Mrs. William Parker 78 as Rebecca Webb 24 and her mother Mrs. Wallace Webb entered the blaze to rescue Parker. A roof collapse occurred moments later burying the trio.
Five people died Monday in Toledo from apoplexy and heart disease. The deceased are Albert Savoy 48 Alma Wilson 87 Charles Cahoo 62 Clara A Berry 67 and James Keerhan 70.
