Tuition protesters appeal convictions
Megan Marzec Kyle Tussing and DJ Amireh former Ohio University Student Senate leaders appeal their four fourth degree misdemeanor convictions for persistent disorderly conduct tied to a January protest at an OU Board of Trustees meeting. Judge Grim sentenced them to 30 days but they face no jail if law abiding for a year and perform 30 hours community service in 60 days. Attorney Patrick McGee filed notices of appeal in April asserting the convictions were unfair while awaiting trial transcripts.

Nelsonville diners will see Tammy’s Country Kitchen relocate from 240 Jefferson St to the former Dairy Queen on Canal Street. Jay and Miki Brooks purchased the building and will lease it to Tammy’s, after Boyd Warner previously abandoned plans to reopen as a Dairy Queen. The site will get a facelift, with a dining counter added and the parking area reworked, while the restaurant readies for a new chapter.
