Wet Weather Delays Hay Cutting and Garden Growth
Unseasonably cool, wet conditions halt first hay cutting between May 25 and June 5, risking a shorter third cut and reduced winter feed. Corn, tomatoes, beans, and soybeans struggle to develop in cool soil, while onions, radishes, beets, peas, and cabbage show better progress. Yet overall local garden output remains lower than usual. still time remains to plant beans, beets, carrots, tomatoes, corn, cabbage, and peppers. Rainfall in June exceeds 4 inches with a record 1.48 inches in one day. the Hocking River rose to 15.26 feet and then receded to 12.90 feet.
