The formal review opens Wednesday as a centerpiece of Virginia’s 1957 Jamestown Festival marking 350 years since the first English settlement.

Commander Robert C. Truax told reporters in San Francisco the United States could launch a moon payload and manned satellite within five years if taxpayers contribute about two dollars per year. He said the program could be financed by a small annual payment from the fifty million taxpayers.
The Circuit Court trial of Jackie Ray Lawson of St. Louis for the slaying of 29 year old Credia M. Mallady was postponed to an unspecified date. Lawson allegedly killed Mallady after a quarrel in St. Louis and dumped the body in a Columbus creek.
Peggy Hopkins Joyce once a Ziegfeld Follies showgirl and six time spouse is listed in critical condition at Memorial Center for Cancer and Allied Diseases in New York. Reports say she was hospitalized after illness spanning three decades.

Ey man as assistant state superintendent for another year and approving building aid grants totaling 761000 for districts in Ross Licking and Perry counties. The board seeks an attorney general opinion on four points about a new bill allowing non tax supported schools to issue teaching certificates and related certification standards and revocation issues.
Cincinnati report shows Mrs. Cynthia Leverdra Delores Corradetti, 23, a seven time married blond, saying she is not married to anyone. She waived a hearing on charges of converting four government checks with bond set at $1000. She admitted signing the checks but claimed no wrongdoing. A North Carolina trial option was offered with no date set. She had just been released May 1 from a Richmond Indiana jail after a 90 day term for bigamy.
A Monday wading trip at Rocky Fork Lake to free a snagged fishing line ended in the drowning of David Banks of Wilmington, age 14. The incident occurred while attempting to rescue the line.

The Supreme Court voted 5-3 to grant a new hearing for Cary Chessman, the California sex offender known as the red light bandit.
