Meigs County shooting uncovers growing marijuana operation
Two men were arrested and another was hospitalized after a late night shooting in Langsville. Gene A. Arms Jr. reported being shot in a bedroom fight over a handgun. Deputies found a hidden marijuana grow room, seized equipment, vehicles, and cash, and obtained search warrants. Meyers and Johnston face marijuana cultivation and related charges. more arrests may follow.

ACBDD votes to cut positions amid contract talks
Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities met Tuesday with most members present. They moved Adapted Physical Education and Physical Therapy Assistant from full-time to part-time due to workload. They will not fill Workshop Specialist Hin Passion Works and Instructional Assistant in Beacon until after union negotiations. The part-time Internship Coordinator in Personnel Plus will be eliminated. The board will not fund federal excise tax under the Affordable Act Cadillac Plan provision. Next meeting set for June 23.
