In Meigs County a week long medical dental and vision drive at Meigs High School draws hundreds with 937 served by Sunday and 300 more by Monday afternoon plus free veterinary care. Leaders cite high satisfaction 99.5 percent and note dental and vision are most popular while wait times occur. A brain bleed patient and two vision issues were detected. 341 eyeglasses issued and over 216000 in dental care provided. Volunteers and reservists from CVS and other groups staff the effort as it plans to leave Thursday leaving lasting community footprints and referrals for ongoing care.
The Athens County Sheriff says Whitmore confessed after multiple interviews and led detectives to the robbery money hidden in a tree trunk. The weapon was a toy gun spray painted black, with clothing from the crime scene recovered, and he faces tampering with evidence and aggravated robbery charges with possible additions.
