Three Injured In Car Collision At Grown City
Three members of Woodie's Col legians an Athens orchestra with Ohio university players were injured early Saturday when a car driven by Lew Gurnell of Nelsonville went over a 50 foot embankment on the Huntington Gallipoli road. Jimmie Blankenship 20 New Straitsville star in the Comedians play Hello Happiness and a saxophonist in the orchestra was the most seriously injured and remained in Huntington hospital. Secretary treasurer Conrad Wein of the miners union in the Hocking field states no more than 880 men work non union in the entire sub district and denies Kehota strip mine near Straitsville is non union. The mine has worked under two union contracts for months. At She Run ning, men reportedly struck at noon over working hours. this mine has long operated non union, employing about 16 men. Don K. McGill, alleged shot Friday by Fete Merz Jr., is president of Lick Run Coal Co. Reports from Kimberly say Valley Coal Co.’s mine, output about 500 tons daily, idle due to a strike.
