Republicans to elect delegates at Athens County meeting
Athens County Republican voters are notified of a delegate convention at City Hall Athens Ohio on July 12 1886 at 11 a m to elect eight delegates and eight alternates to the State Convention and delegates to the Congressional Convention. A primary election is set for July 10 1886 at usual voting places to nominate candidates for Auditor Commissioner and Infirmary Director plus county central committee members. The May 15 1886 county committee meeting appointed Judicial Convention delegates and urged solid votes for Judge R de Steigner. An ornate flower bed at the asylum entrance is praised for design and rising costs enhancing its display and Florist Rhedemeyer’s reputation.
