Wolfe's Basin Drained to Allow Highway Route Plan
Logan June 9 Wolfe's Basin near Route 31 will be drained by week’s end to allow the highway realignment. Workmen began grading through the basin and a drainage ditch will remove the water. Conservation officials plan to save fish in the basin for propagation elsewhere. The basin, a longtime local fishing hub formed by the old canal, sits on the relocated State Highway 31 route and must be filled. Clinton Webb staff correspondent.
