A 1500 strong miners rally in Chauncey marked the return of the union with a street parade on Sycamore Street and a public celebration. Unions and women’s auxiliaries marched with banners while Chauncey Millfield band Slick’s Band and others played. Local officials and speakers addressed the crowd after a prayer led by Reverend Guss Graham.

In Springfield Illinois a low flying plane dropped pamphlets urging miners to join the Progressive Miners Union amid a bitter labor fight at the Peerless Mine of the Peabody Coal Company. Thomas Urban, 25, a Progressive miner, died as clashes with United Mine Workers sidelines left 2,500 pickets at the shafts yesterday.
Elliott Roosevelt, son of the President, will move to Nevada soon to aid his wife in obtaining a divorce. Mrs. F D Roosevelt confirmed the report from The Arizona Daily Star.

Edward P. Mulrooney, former New York City police commissioner, told a Temple Beth Emeth Brotherhood audience that the Lindbergh baby kidnaping case will be solved. Prosecutor John W. Bolin announces eighteen cases will be presented to a special session of the May Athens County Grand Jury. Foremost is extortion by Louie Carsey of Mechanicsburg who pleaded guilty before Mayor Robert Wood after demanding $100. Additional indictments are sought for assault and robbery of Mary Stiers and charges including breaking and entering illegal possession of explosives failure to provide obscene language and shooting with intent to kill. More than eight witnesses are subpoenaed.
George Leyshon aged 65 died at his East Main Street home after a stroke. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Saturday at the residence with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery Nelsonville. He served as Hocking Valley Railroad Agent at New Straitaville for years and later ran a grocery store, retiring five years ago. A Republican in local politics he ran for county auditor in 1930. He is survived by his wife, a son George Jr. at Western Reserve University and a daughter Mrs Claire Stettler of Cleveland.
