Gallia County Gun Club outlines improvements for the next weeks. About 25 members met to plan a regulation trap house for the electric trap, two other structures, a dining room addition, and a storeroom. Club to repaint clubhouse and repair rifle range while expanding membership with a new initiation fee of one dollar per hour on the project.
Mrs. Billie Fisher is named local chairman for Gallia County with Brigadier William Chamberlain announcing. John Wiseman to serve as treasurer for the 1957 58 appeal as committees plan to solicit all areas of Gallia County. Funds stay local to aid clothing, groceries, eyeglasses, meals, lodging, and transportation needs.
A dash of births and admissions across Holzer Hospital and surrounding areas. Gallipolis announces R. White, a cashier at the First National Bank for two years, resigns effective July 1 to move to Columbus and join Vercoe & Co., investment brokers. He plans about a year of schooling to train as a broker.
Gallia County Sheriff Oscar Baird transported Delbert A. Clemons to the Ohio State Penitentiary in Columbus and Donovan Stevens to Mansfield Reformatory to begin sentences of one to 20 years for forgery and one to 15 years for burglary respectively.
River gauges show rising water levels at Gallipolis and Kanawha Falls with several dams urged to manned status. Ohio River dam 29 closed for repairs after a barge strike while various locks report boat movements and tonnage shifts through the day, detailing named vessels and up or down readings.
The Kananga Sportsman Club and its auxiliary move their family picnic from Sunday June 16 to Sunday June 9. Dinner at the club house at noon. Members and families of both clubs are invited.

Gallipolis pool opens Saturday at 1 p.m. for an 11 week season ending Labor Day. Manager Charles Swanson says the facility has been overhauled and repainted and is filling. Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Anderson Mahoney will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McCoy funeral home in Vinton with Rev. Gerald Brown officiating. She died at her Bidwell Route 2 home Wednesday evening and burial will be in Morgan Center Cemetery.
The Rio Grande Methodist WSCS meeting planned for Thursday night is postponed to next month due to the Ohio Methodist Conference at Lakeside.
